The standard of entries was very high and I am delighted with the first Ragley Open Art Exhibition. The exhibition opens on Wednesday 20th August – Sunday 7th September, Wednesday – Sunday, 11.00am – 4.00pm.
I do hope you will be able to come and view this thought provoking and diverse exhibition.

Our theme for the Open Art Competition 2014 is Spirit of Place. Dawn Harris, Artist in Residence at Ragley Hall, will be investigating all the tangible physical aspects of a place including monuments, boundaries, rivers, woods, architectural style, pathways and views as well as the invisible weave of culture; stories, art, memories, beliefs, histories and the presence of people past and present.
The competition has no specific subject but work reflecting the theme, Spirit of Place, would be appreciated.
The aims of the Open are to:
- provide a new and unique platform for artists to exhibit their work.
- provide the people of Warwickshire, and surrounding counties with access to the broad range of contemporary artwork.
The panel of judges will choose a selection of work to be curated by Dawn Harris for an exhibition entitled Spirit of Place at Ragley Gallery from 17th August – 7th September. This time period has been chosen specifically to enable the best possible exposure for entrants to reach a new audience. The main prize will be the Ragley Open Prize of £500 (other prizes TBC). Deadline for entries Sunday 20th July.
